Product Description

The Santa Fe trail was a commercial highway from 1821 to 1880 that connected Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Trail covered many different types of country and discovered many different challenges for the pioneer traveler. As the transition from the flint hills of Kansas to the sandy hills of Oklahoma give way to the hard-lands and short grass prairies of New Mexico, so goes the transition of grasses as well. Blue Grama, Indian Ricegrass, Western Wheatgrass, Sideoats Grama, Galleta, Buffalograss, Alkali Sacaton, Sheep Fescue and Little Bluestem are the more common mainstay species found along the way. Common to many of the areas along the old travelers way, consider that you may be planting a little history as you spread Santa Fe trail native grass seeds along the way.
